The above reply is bounced back to anyone that sends email to your domain that is not specifically
addressed to a person with a mail box. Example: Someone sending email to
AnyFalseName@YourDomain.com will receive the above reply from the mail server. The
actual message may vary as you are able to change it.
Maybe you are thinking, "But the email address does exist." Well, you likely made a
typographical error in setting up the email box or made an error in your email client program on your
computer. Example: If you set up an email account for "JaneDoe"
in your web control panel mail manger, then make sure your email program account name (Outlook,
Netscape, etc) also exactly matches "JaneDoe". A common
mistake is that people incorrectly enter (or forget to enter) a reply address in their email program.
Try sending an email to yourself and be sure you receive it before using the email address and
distributing it to other people. If you get the email that you sent to yourself, then all is ok.
If you don't then make sure you are using the correct email name and password. You can confirm
this by opening your web browser and accessing your "Web Mail" email account directly (without using
your email program). See this support page for information on
how to access your "Web Mail" if you have forgotten or haven't used it yet.
As for the message that is bounced back to a user, you can change it or prevent it from being sent.
There is lots of flexibility there.
To change the default message of "This is an
autoresponder. I'll never see your message", go to your mail manger in the control panel and
click on the email account name labeled "Default". At the bottom of the screen you will
see a check box labeled "Autoresponse for mail caught by the default:" You may enter any text in
the list box that you want sent. Our default message at Sturdy Link reads "There is no person by
the name you specified on this server."
If you want to prevent ANY reply message from going back to a sender, then simply turn off the check
box labeled "Bounce Default Email." However, we should warn you that you will likely start
receiving lots of junk mail if you turn off the bounce feature and send mail to a mail box. Also,
it will be harder to determine if you have incorrectly set up a new email account in the future.

An Email Reply Is Received That Reads "Relaying
Denied".
The most likely cause of this error message is due to a setting in your email program.
First, we'll explain how you get the error: Like many systems, we use closed circuit email
servers for increased security. All this means is that when you request to send email, our
servers must receive authentication from your email program. Thus, your username & password is
sent to us (from your email program) and verified. Then the email is sent/received. If you
issue additional requests to send email within 15 minutes, a password is not needed. However, if
the interval between requests is longer than 15 minutes, another authentication is needed.
Unfortunately, Microsoft Outlook does not send the password when it "sends" email, and to compound
the problem, it tries to send email before retrieving new messages. Therefore, you will get a
"relaying denied" error message if you don't have Outlook set to request email frequently (under 15
minutes.) Outlook sends the password only when you press the
send/receive button. If you just press the "send" button, your password is never resubmitted.
Typically the password is only required when receiving email.
This problem most often occurs with people traveling with a laptop computer. They leave the
email program running, but have chosen to send email manually instead of automatically. And if it
is sent automatically, it is done every 20-30 minutes. That's too long.
The Solution To The Problem Is Simple:
Set your email program to automatically send and receive email every 10 minutes. If you are
using a spam filtering program like SpamKiller, then it should be set to check mail every 10 minutes.
The Second Reason For The
"Relaying Denied"
Error:
This is other reason you receive this error message can be related to services like AOL.
They love to blacklist people and servers. Please see this support page regarding the message
"Relaying Denied".
